Building a Peer Supporter Career

As more and more behavioral health providers recognize the value of peer support, the field continues to grow.

On October 24, we welcomed more than 50 prospective Peer Recovery Supporters and partners to the Columbus Metropolitan Library for “Building a Peer Supporter Career,” an information session and resource fair to assist new PRS as they begin their professional journey.

Certified PRS shared their experiences working in a variety of settings, and experts in benefits management, re-entry, resumes and interviewing provided information and job-readiness tools.

Thank you to representatives from CareSource, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, MHAOhio’s PRS Program, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Ohio Means Jobs, Overcomers on the Move, Southeast Benefits Management, Southeast RREACT, and Southeast Vocational Services who hosted tables at the resource fair and met one-on-one with participants.

We are so grateful to the ADAMH Board of Franklin County, OhioMHAS, Maryhaven and Southeast Healthcare for partnering with us to provide another successful PRS recruitment event, and to the Columbus Metropolitan Library for hosting us.

We’ll be back next year with our 3rd Annual PRS Community Event & Job Fair in spring 2024!
